Welcome to my Portfolio!
My name is Dylan Vidal, and I am a passionate Software Engineer and Computer Science Student at the University of Central Florida, where I am a second-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. I am the President of the Knight Hacks, UCF's Software Development Club and Hackathon Organization, where I make it my mission to empower as many aspiring technologists as I can. I am also a GitHub Campus Expert, which enables me to do my very best in achieving that goal.
Professionally, I am a Software Engineer Intern at NVIDIA for the Summer 2025 Season as an Ignite Intern working in the SW-GPU department on the autonomous hardware recovery team as a subset of NVIDIA Mission Control. I have also worked as a Software Engineer Intern for Pheratech Systems, where I built an internal inventory and user management system for operations and implemented Computer Vision practices to help achieve company MVP and raise funding.
As for my personal life, I am a huge fan of Tabletop Roleplaying games like Dungeons and Dragons, which most of my initial software projects were built for. I am also super into weightlifting and being in good health.

My Core Values
Passion
At my core, I am passionate about everything I do. From my work as the President of Knight Hacks, to my experiences as a Software Engineer at NVIDIA or Pheratech Systems, I am always giving everything my all. When I am passionate about something, I am willing to put in the work to make it happen.
As a part of helping others find their way into the tech industry, I often find that passion is what truly makes the difference. Beyond just cultivating knowledge in others, I strive to ignite the flame of passion deep in their hearts. I often tell others to build something they love, and passion will follow!

People
I am a socially driven person, and I firmly believe in the importance of community across all facets of life. Throughout my time at UCF, I have been fortunate to have joined many developer communities, like Knight Hacks, MLH, and the GitHub Education Team as a GitHub Campus Expert.
Based on my personal experiences, community is one of the most important things for my success. The collective wisdom and effort of my community, both professionally and technically, has been invaluable in my journey. Thus, I strive to contribute to every community I am apart of and give back the same wisdom I have received.

Progress
To me, the most important metric of success is consistent and continuous progress. I take advantage of every opportunity to learn and grow, either technically, professionally, or personally. I also aim to help inspire others to work towards their own progress, which I have cultivated through my work with the Knight Hacks community and various workshops.
I am a firm believer in the importance of starting small and building up to bigger goals. As engineers, we often get caught up in our current capabilities, feeling Imposter Syndrome or doubt when we are just starting out. However, I believe the best way to overcome this feeling of doubt is by simply doing. Drop the tutorials and docs, and just start building. Fail fast, learn even faster.
